On August 26, the 2007 International Archery Tournament was rounded off at Beijing's Olympic Green Archery Field. In the men's individual final held today, Australia's Sky Kim defeated Malaysia's Chu Sian Cheng to win the title, the last gold in this tournament. Chu Sian Cheng took the second place, followed by Takaharu Furukawa of Japan, who narrowly beat Frenchman Romain Girouille by one point in the extra.
In today's finals Sky Kim, who placed first in the ranking round, trailed three points after the first end and managed to come from behind to tie the score at 111-111. In the extra, both Sky Kim and Chu Sian Cheng scored 10 points with their first two arrows. With his third arrow Sky Kim scored another full mark to beat Chu Sian Cheng's nine and narrowly won by one point.
Takaharu Furukawa failed to win Chu Sian Cheng in the semifinals but luckily turned defeat into victory when competing for the third place with Romain Girouille from France.
When the match was over with the score standing at 111:110 in favor of the French archer, the referee re-examined the target and ruled that the score should be a tie of 111. An extra was then called, with Takaharu Furukawa winning by one point for the bronze medal.
