The men's team gold medal match of the 2007 International Archery Tournament concluded this afternoon, with ROK outscoring Malaysia 281-215 to win the title. The United States took the bronze.
ROK collected both the men's and women's team titles in the tournament. "If I tell you our training methods, it will harm our future." Im Dong Hyun said when questioned about their winning secret, adding "If you want to win, then just keep working hard and training."
The ROK archers said they were happy about wining the two team golds and expected to win at the Beijing Olympic Games next year.
"It can't be better if we can win the individual golds." They said, concerning the individual games in the next few days.
As a black horse in the tournament, Malaysia made it to the final and its players noted they were satisfied with the result and hoped to clinch the third berth for the Beijing Olympic Games via hard training.
The United States finished third after beating Chinese Taipei and the players said "We are very glad to experience the Olympic venue before the Games. The venue is great and the organization work is great. We are looking forward to participating in the 2008 Olympic Games."
Speaking of whether the hot weather would affect their performance, the American players said: "Actually we had done some adaptive training before we came here and there is no problem to us. Tomorrow we will have more such training."
Explaining why the line-up was changed in today's game, the US head coach said: "We have to do some adjustments in the Olympic test event so as to find a best solution for the Games next year."
