ROK crowned in men's team

The men's team gold medal match of the 2007 International Archery Tournament concluded this afternoon, with ROK outscoring Malaysia 281-215 to win the title. The United States beat Chinese Taipei to take the bronze.

ROK, consisting of Im Dong Hyun, member of the winning ROK team at the 2004 Olympics and Asian Games individual champion, Kim Yeon Chul and Lee Chang Hwan, ranked first in the ranking round and easily fended off Uzbekistan and Poland respectively in the round of 16 and the quarterfinals.

However ROK encountered big problems in the semi against Chinese Taipei. Finally luck saw the ROK team upsetting the latter 223-222 to enter the final.

Malaysia, composing of Cheng Chu Sian, Sulaiman Muhammad Marbbawi and Wan Ab Aziz W Mohd Khalmizam, stumbled into a sixth finish in the ranking round. But later it burst to defeat China, Russia and the United States making to the final.

The US team made up of veteran Victor Wunderle, Brady Ellison and Richard Johnson, also failed to do well in the ranking round, placing seventh. After eliminating Ukraine and Japan, the Americans came to the semi and ousted Chinese Taipei to win the bronze.
