The men's team quarterfinals of the 2007 International Archery Tournament concluded this morning, with ROK, Chinese Taipai, Malaysia and the United States advancing to the semifinals.
ROK's Dong Hyun Im, Yeon Chul Kim and Chang Hwan Lee beat Uzbekistanian opponents in the 1/8 eliminations and then defeated those from Polish with 228-216 in the 1/4 eliminations to enter the semifinals.
Chinese Taipai composed of Guo Chengwei, Liu Minghuang and Wang Chengbang who ranked 13th in the ranking round, beat the Australian team by a big margin of 224-194 in the 1/8 eliminations. Then they went on to defeat the Italian team with 220-211 in the 1/4 eliminations and got to the semifinals.
In today's two elimination rounds, Malaysia won both by a small margin, first over China with 218-214 in the 1/8 and then over Russia with 218-215 in the 1/4.
The USA beat Ukraine to qualify for the top 8. In the 1/4 eliminations, they had a close match with Japan and, when the score stood at 214-214, managed to win two more points in the extra to make the semifinals.
The men's team semifinals will begin at 4:00 this afternoon, with ROK vs Chinese Taipai and Malaysia vs USA.
