The first gold medal of the 2007 International Archery Tournament was unveiled at the Olympic Green Archery Field on August 21, with ROK, Russia and the United States placing first, second and third respectively.

A a press conference held after the awarding ceremony, the ROK archers said, "Although the Chinese team was eliminated they came to cheer us up, we appreciate their support. Hopefully China can enter the finals at the Olympic Games next year so as to bring more spectators to the scene. However, China will be a threat to us if they do enter the finals."

Chinese archers could sometimes reach 220 in their training, but only scored 212 today in the women's team 1/8 eliminations with the Great Britain, which resulted in their elimination by merely two points. Why couldn't China keep performing consistently like ROK? Regarding this question, a ROK archer said, "We can't give any good advice as archers. Despite China's bad luck in this tournament, we still think they are a very good team. As you know, we met them in the final at the 2004 Olympic Games. If they try harder, they will be able to achieve better results at next year's Olympic Games."

A member of the Russian team expressed his thanks for local people's hospitality shown to all the participating teams.

Some American archers said it was a pleasant surprise that so many spectators giving their support from the stands. "It was so hot," said one of them, "but there were still so many people coming out to watch the competition in the scorching sun. I was both surprised and moved. I hope they enjoyed the performance of all the teams."

The United States beat Georgia by a narrow margin of one point to take the bronze medal. Commenting on the match, an American archer said, "I am quite satisfied with my performance in the semifinal against Georgia. Georgia is good team, you know, a victory by one point is an encouragement to us."
