When the seven-day 2007 International Archery Tournament was over at the Olympic Green Archery Field on August 26, Liang Cunhe, the medical manager of the event, recalled how medical service had been provided during the tournament.

"Here in the archery field we had a medical team made up of 36 experienced doctors and medical workers from seven hospitals including Beijing Tongren Hospital and Capital Medical University," Liang Cunhe said. "We are glad that the team's professional work and service were commended by officials of the BOCOG."

Although the archery field is not big, the medical staff was available everywhere and at any time. Liang said, "Our medical team was divided into five groups. Should anyone, athlete or spectator, feels unwell or get injured, they would set out immediately and give him/here first-aid treatment. And if it's a serious problem, the patient would be sent to the designated hospital for further treatment within 10 minutes."

Liang revealed that one day a spectator suffered a heatstroke, and within one minute he got timely treatment by our doctors from one of those mobile medical stations.

When asked how the team could response so quickly to such kind of emergency, Liang answered, "That was because we had done a lot of simulation exercises beforehand. "The Olympic Games allow no mistakes," he said. "We're happy we can do something for the Olympics and of course we will try our very best to do it well."
